In the best tradition of science fiction, this work creates a world with species and inter-species relationships that make the reader want to learn more. I have a feeling that the "superior" species will eventually find itself bested by the weaker species, and am anxious to learn more of the story. The book might be improved with more detail about landscape -- I found myself trying to picture the lands they move through and live in. But it was a page-turner, none-the-less.Product details

This short story gives quite an interesting insight to Vega's history and mindset, focusing more on his development rather than the overall plot. An enjoyable read and a great addition to the Bane of Yoto universe

Awesome prequel! This was a great way to show Vega's backstory and show a cool perspective on the arch villain in the Bane of Yoto. After reading this, it makes me want to re-read the original book. Fun twist at the end too!

Not really my kind of fiction but the writing is excellent and it kept me reading. If bloody fantasy about aliens, set in a completely unfamiliar world, is your kind of thing this story is just the ticket.
